I think that this straightener manages to give the heat, consistency, and ceramic plates necessary for a quality hair straightener. And at less than fifty dollars, it’s a good value too. I do have concerns about the LED screen giving out though it hasn’t so far. Personally, I still prefer my CHI, but for someone who is looking for a bargain, this is a good option.

A decent straightener but not professional – David A. Winton –
I have type 3b curly hair. According to my stylist that means that I have nice not very frizzy curls that are about an inch in diameter. For the last 6 years, my straightener has been my most needed friend. I straighten my hair every morning and I don’t leave my home unless my hair looks perfect.
I’ve been through about 4 straighteners during this period and have tried many of my friends’ and I would rank this as an average product. It is definitely a great deal for the price as it’s much better than the revlon analogue which is selling for around 40$. I believe the plates are tourmaline.
The remington straightens my hair very effectively in a relatively short time. It only takes about 2 runs to get my hair to be sleek and straight. It’s also thin enough to get close to the roots and the curved shape prevents me from burning my scalp. However, while my hair looks perfectly straight it doesn’t look at all natural and 3 hours later i always find the ends of my hair curling. Also, if my hair is anything short of completely dry before I start working on it I cannot get this straightener to work at all. I never had these issue with my royale or chi straighteners. They seem to lock my hair into place and I never found a curl until I washed my hair. They were also a lot more gentle with my hair. Of course, they were both over a 0 each. I suppose I’ll be less upset when I part with this one.

I needed to get a flat iron that could heat up to over 400degrees to do a keratin treatment. Did not want to buy the keratin flat iron for lots lots more money. I also wanted a flat iron that could curl…this was a dream come true. Also heats up very very quickly and stays hot.

This is my second purchase of this same model. I love the size, the way it holds onto my hair without snagging, the quick heat-up, and the feel of the handle. With both that I purchased I found that the heat setting control was in an awkward place resulting in the control being hit with my fingers and needing a reset. But my most recent purchase of this model was a disappointment because of what seems to be a short in it noted by another buyer that left a similar review. The iron frequently turns off causing the need to keep resetting the ON button and waiting for the iron to reheat to the desired temp. I hope an even newer model will resolve this problem. My last one worked for me quite a few years.
